Ongoing educational activities & events:
Gardening in the Mountains Series*: A series of 90 minute seminars covering various gardening topics. These programs will be offered the third Thursday of each month, February thru October at the Extension Office, 49 Mt. Carmel Road.
ONE-TIME LOCATION CHANGE: Due to popular demand, the July 19 lecture by Randolph Gardner, Controlling Tomato Late Blight with Resistant Varieties will be held at the Folk Art Center, 382 Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville, NC.

Saturday Seminar Series*: A series of hands-on seminars covering various gardening topics. These programs will be held on Saturday mornings, February – September. Click on the link above to see the schedule and topics for 2018.
Backyard Composting Demonstrations: Composting demonstrations will be held the 2nd and 4th Saturday, April 14 – June 23 and the 2nd Saturday only, July 14 – September 8. The demonstration site is located at the edge of Jesse Isreal’s property at the WNC Farmers Market.
GARDEN HELPLINE – DAILY during regular Extension office hours
The Helpline and Extension office are open 8am – 5pm on weekdays. (Closed on state holidays) During the growing season, March through September, Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are on duty to answer phones and assist visitors from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Call 828-255-5522 or bring your plant problem or question to Buncombe County Extension Center, 49 Mt. Carmel Rd. (Please bring samples large enough for plant identification).
