Saturday Seminar at The Learning Garden presents:
Starting Seeds with Winter Sowing

Saturday, October 25, 2025*

Session 1:  10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Session 2:    1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Presenter: John Bowen, Extension Master GardenerSM Volunteer

If you enjoy growing vegetables and flowers from seed but do not have the space for all those seed trays, grow lights and heating mats, then give winter sowing a try. This is a simple and inexpensive method of starting seeds outdoors in winter using milk jugs as the greenhouse and letting Mother Nature do the work.

Join NC Extension Master Gardener, John Bowen, as he gives you step-by-step instructions on how to winter sow, from making your own greenhouse, selecting the right soil, what types of seeds to plant and monitoring and maintaining your containers through the winter. Get a jump start on spring growing!

This program will be indoors.

* New this year, Saturday Seminars are being offered twice on the same day. The content of both sessions will be the same.  Select the session that best fits your schedule.
