We are excited to bring you an inspiring program, Gazing into the Future: What’s Coming in Gardening. Our Asheville symposium will be held on October 25, which is in the middle of leaf season in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Our themed program will include the following interesting and delightful speakers:
Tony Avent, well-known lecturer and garden writer, founder of Plant Delights Nursery in Raleigh. Tony will open our program with a whirlwind review of some of the most exciting, best-performing perennials and close the day with his view on residential design for plant enthusiasts.
Tom Ranney, Professor, NCSU Dept. of Horticultural Science at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research Center. Tom has spearheaded the development of many plants that are now available to gardeners and will tell us about what’s new in woody ornamentals.
Craig Mauney, Extension Area Specialized Agent, Agriculture-Commercial Vegetables & Fruits for 38 counties. Craig will give an informative and highly entertaining talk on new fruits and vegetables.
Brie Arthur, leader of suburban Foodscape movement and correspondent on PBS TV show Growing a Greener World. Brie will explain the ins and outs of growing with new technologies and how to integrate them into our landscapes and patios.
Make sure to arrive promptly at 8 a.m. for registration, then patronize our vendors for exciting garden-related products that will go quickly. Breakfast, lunch, and mid-afternoon dessert break will be provided. There will be a wonderful variety of door prizes, swag bags, and free hotel parking. Attendance for the full day is valid for 5 hours of continuing education for Extension Master GardenerSM Volunteers.
